Nagytemplom

In the heart of the city, on Kossuth Square, you can see the most characteristic Hungarian classicist building, the Great Church, which was already a church in the 14th century. The building that stands today was built from 1805 to 1823 to the designs of József Thaler, a chamber architect who used the plans of Mihály Péchy, but the first service was held in it in 1819.

Hortobágy National Park

Hortobágy National Park is the first national park in Hungary, established on 1 January 1973 by the National Nature Conservation Office. It covers an area of 82 000 hectares. On 30 November 1999, the whole area of the Hortobágy National Park was inscribed on the World Heritage List at the UNESCO World Heritage Committee meeting in Marrakech.
